Pairs & Triples County Championships - 1st & 2nd December, held at York Indoor Bowls Club.

Pairs 1st December :- Church Fenton had 4 pairs teams enter this competition. They were David Herbert & David Edwards, Paul Williamson & Phil Bradley, Scott Naylor & David Skinner and Simon & Cameron Breeze.

After the Round Robin stage 2 teams, the 2 Davids along with Paul & Phil went through to the Knockouts , both teams won and proceeded to the Quarter Finals. Unfortunately both teams failed to qualify further.

Triples 2nd December :- Today we had 2 teams enter the Triples, David Herbert, David Edwards & Paul Williamson along with the team of John Marshall, Phil Bradley & Scott Naylor. The round robin stages were hard fought with John, Phil & Scott just failing to progress further. This was a good showing for John's team as Phil only started to bowl with us in September, and Scott having started last season and this being his first taste of competitions.

The 2 Davids and Paul had a good run playing several of the top teams and eventually reached the Final where they came up against the England trio and last years winners of Lee & Bronagh Toleman and Lawrence Moffat who had only dropped 18 shots in their previous 7 matches.    The match went to the last end with the Fenton team being 2 shots down as they started, but with Fenton holding 3 shots and Lee having the final wood, he chose to fire but missed the head leaving Fenton with 3 shots and the winners at 6-5.

David Herbert, David Edwards & Paul Williamson are now the NYSMBA Triples County Champions.
